Card Giveaway

Ruth from Nice Day Designs is kindly offering a set of her handcrafted cards to Pretty Far West readers.

Two winners, randomly chosen, will get a packet of five cards each, a mix of whichever designs they would like. Some of them are shown here and there are more designs to choose from in the Nice Day Designs etsy shop.

To enter, just leave a comment on this post. There is no need to follow or admire anything. International readers are welcome to take part.

Birthday people of my acquaintance, please look away, as I took a fancy to Ruth's cards some time ago and bought a stash of them, so you will be receiving them from me on the Big Day, accompanied by my usual offerings of finest champagne, a snazzy picnic hamper and a hip flask upon which is inscribed that I love your new shoes.  I would hate to ruin the surprise.

  1. Might one jump straight to a sharing in the contents of the hip flask? If not I'd like the thought of some snazzy cards; so would my family, friends and acquaintances who must know that Mr Tesco is as far as my originality goes... No idea on email link, and am endeavouring to cultivate more troglodyte tendencies, so here is my second email (ha ha): mccreedyme@tiscali.co.uk. Obviously horrid spammers will realise that someone who buys cards in Tesco falls not at all in their target market group.

  2. Those are lovely. Seeing as I have my own card business, I feel I might not be allowed to enter this give away... but then I think that my friends and family are probably sick of receiving the same cards time and time again from me and might fancy a change... (how dare they!)

    1. Of course you must enter, Sadhbh. I want other readers to know that I have a commentator whose lovely name has four consonants in a row, and am hereby awarding you another free entry. I still remember being the most sought after person in the UK when the play "Dancing at Lughnasa" was having its storming success, as I was the only one who could pronounce it with any confidence.

  3. Hello Mise:
Well, here we are again. Mr and Mrs Ready for a Giveaway, Always the Bridesmaids but Never the Brides, Just Call us the Losers Hattatt. As international readers we are relieved to note that at least we count for this delightful giveaway. We have also noted that it is not required to Follow or admire although, as we sincerely and most ardently hope you are aware we do Follow wherever you lead, dearest Mise, and we admire everything. Yes, the cushions, the sofa, the bedding, the soap[which we so nearly missed last time], the homemade Joghurt, the cupcakes, the children[whom we are certain are wonderful], the husband[whom we are certain is charming],the yellow Aga and anything PINK.

We are already drowning our sorrows.......!!!!

    1. Jane and Lance, I swear I have never seen a more finely crafted giveaway entry in all my blogging years. I caught my breath at the sure finesse of that capital pink finale. How could the stony heart of random.org not be swayed by this?

  8. Mise, I always seem to run out of cards and since there are no amenities on this tiny island, this would be a godsend!
I write to the troops, sponsored children, family...
What can I say? I love to receive a nice card and feel sending e-cards are just not the same (particularly when roll call comes and soldiers wish to hold something in their hands...)
    Thanks for the opportunity!

  9. What a delightful collection of cards! These designs are wonderful and can be used for so many different people. Nice Day indeed! (By the way, I bought a copy of Ideal Home at my international newsstand in San Francisco and LOVE the story of your remodel. Wow, what a labor or love! My only question is: what's a "snug"?)

    1. How dear of you, Katie. A snug is a cosy, private little room in which one retreats from the social world or from the raging storms with a good book.

  10. I won't be able to decide which five. Win or lose, I already feel like a winner because I like finding new sources for unique cards. Jeannie Lynne Paske at Obsolete World already has my business and now I will add Ruth to my list. Thanks for the tip Mise.

  12. One can never have too many pastels or too many cards. Ruth's are lovely. Please count me in, dear Mise. {I arranged for a hip flask to be sent directly from the maker to a friend for his birthday, and said maker forgot to include my wittily-crafted message. My friend asked everyone but me whether they sent it to him. If I'd mailed him a card, it would have prevented such a travesty.}

  19. These are lovely cards. Anyone who knows me would be delighted to receive a homemade card from me free of the absurdist collage to which I'm inclined.

  20. Lovely cards = but then you would never have anyhting less than lovely and stylish on your blog. You had best chain up your chair - a friend has offered to help me acquire it, on condition that we each have it for 6 months of the year (the logistics of that might be tricky, as she lives in Australia!!)

  25. Hello Mise [again]:
We cannot afford to take chances. Lest you should think that we have not seen the pretty red bench casually sited in a corner of the Pretty Far West garden, then this is the proof as, duly noted, comments are disabled. As a further guarantee we have now taken out shares in random org. com, are rereading all of Yeats' poetry, promoting the Emerald Isle to all and sundry as THE holiday destination, and regarding potatoes as THE food of the moment. If we can do more, simply say the word!!

    1. I'm so fired by your enthusiasm, dear Jane and Lance, that I'm now thinking of entering my giveaway myself. I hate to position myself as your bitter rival, but with five handcrafted cards on offer the stakes are high. Friendships have foundered on less. I plan, however, to award you an extra entry to conceal my evil intentions.
